Research Scientist Intern (1 Post) - Ifakara

The Intern will support a longitudinal follow-up study investigating the long-term effects of early-life malaria exposure on adult health outcomes.

Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist (Intern) to support a longitudinal follow-up study investigating the long-term effects of early-life malaria exposure on adult health outcomes, including height, weight, blood pressure, cognition, and lifestyle factors. This research builds on the Ifakara Millennium Birth Cohort (IMBC), a unique cohort of over 6,700 individuals born between 1998 and 2000 in the Kilombero Valley, originally established under the Kilombero Net Programme (KINET).

The intern will play a vital role in both field and analytical activities that contribute to understanding the long-term health and socioeconomic impacts of malaria prevention efforts in early life. The research team will support the intern in applying for PhD scholarships. 

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Demography, Quantitative Sociology, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline. A solid background in quantitative research methods and statistical analysis is essential. Prior experience conducting field research in low-resource settings is highly desirable.
