The Lab technician will plan & supervise the collection of samples, ensure proper handling and processing of specimens, and conduct tests in accordance with SOPs, GCLP, and other relevant regulations.
Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking qualified and experienced Laboratory Technicians to join the Biomedical Research and Clinical Trials Department. The successful candidates will be based in participating health facilities where recruitment and follow-up visits for study participants will be conducted, performing a range of laboratory activities for the project.
He/she will plan and supervise the collection of samples, ensure proper handling and processing of specimens, and conduct tests in accordance with SOPs, GCLP, and other relevant regulations. The role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment, participating in quality control programs, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science and have at least one year of working experience. They must be proficient in various laboratory techniques, including clinical chemistry, hematology, malaria diagnosis, urinalysis, and basic microbiological, entomological, and parasitological analyses. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ISO standards, and basic digital skills is essential.
