Research Officer (MD) [1 post] – Bagamoyo

The Research Officer will be responsible for participating in the development and writing of study protocols, responding to technical comments, and supporting the planning and coordination of study.

Position Summary

Ifakara Health Institute is seeking an experienced Research Officer (MD) to be based at the Bagamoyo Branch under the ViALLIN Project. The successful candidate will ensure that delegated phases of the study are conducted in accordance with agreed study protocols and OECD Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles, and that high-quality data and reports are produced on time and to the satisfaction of the sponsor where applicable.

The Research Officer will be responsible for participating in the development and writing of study protocols, responding to technical comments, and supporting the planning and coordination of study experiments and required logistical arrangements. The role involves ensuring strict adherence to study plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), identifying and documenting any deviations, assessing their impact on study integrity, and implementing appropriate corrective actions in consultation with the Study Director.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold a Medical Doctor (MD) degree or a relevant science degree. A Master of Science in Public Health with a proven record of accomplishment will be an added advantage.

Candidates must have experience in data analysis using Stata software and demonstrated experience in conducting and supervising laboratory experiments in medical entomology.
