Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) Training

Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) Training

The Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) Training, organized by Ifakara Health Institute and funded by AMMnet, aims to enhance participants' skills in data analysis, particularly in the implementation of GLMMs using R. The training is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in GLMMs, strengthening their data analysis skills and enhancing their research output.

The training targets 15 participants with intermediate data analysis and R software knowledge, equipping them with practical and theoretical expertise to improve their research capabilities.

Commenced in December 2024 until December 2025, the GLMM training focuses on key objectives, including understanding data, sources of data and data types, understand the key steps to in data analysis including data entry, summarization, and visualization, as well as enhance skills in applying GLMMs in research. Participants will also learn about model selection techniques using AIC and the DHaRMa package and improve their report writing skills using R Markdown.

The training will be facilitated by Ifakara scientists within the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences department under the leadership of Letus Muyaga (Principal Investigator), Dr. Halfan Ngowo, and Yohana Mwalugelo.

Several other institutions involved in the training include the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) – Tanzania, National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Nelson Mandela University of Science and Technology, and St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Science.
