ALPHA network: HIV incidence trends and risk factors to describe patterns and risks for HIV incidence in selected communities in Southern and Eastern Africa

ALPHA network: HIV incidence trends and risk factors to describe patterns and risks for HIV incidence in selected communities in Southern and Eastern Africa

The project will involve analysis of directly observed incidence in the ALPHA network population based surveillance study. Secondary data analysis from Mzima Project will be done to:

1. Analyse changes in partnership and partnership mixing patterns.

2. Describe sexual behaviors and partnership dynamics by HIV status and among PLHIV by diagnosis and treatment status.

3. Describe age and sex specific prevalence of untreated HIV infections.

The IHI team will provide high quality verified and documented data to enable analysis to be reproduced centrally and compared with other ALPHA studies. They will also contribute in the write up of site specific and levels trends and differentials in incidence, and how site specific data collection issues impinge on the measurements of these.
