Experienced researcher in health systems

Gumi Abdallah is a seasoned Research Officer at Ifakara Health Institute with over 14 years of experience in health research, specializing in the Health System Thematic. 

As a Research Officer, Gumi has been involved in significant projects such as the COVITEST program and long-term projects like Quality Improvement on Maternal and Newborn Health at District Scale (QUADS), Expanded Quality Improvement Using Information Power (EQUIP), and In-depth Network for Effectiveness and Safety Studies (INESS). His contributions range from stakeholder engagement, training, data collection, analysis, report writing, and manuscript development for publication. His achievements include contributing to program/project implementation, fulfilling institutional scientific development goals, and providing scientific support to various projects. 

Gumi's expertise lies in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health programs, particularly those focused on Maternal, Adolescent, Child, and Newborn Health. His work extends to community programs aimed at improving health systems in resource-constrained countries, and he is skilled in training health facility and community staff in Quality Improvement for maternal and newborn service delivery. His research skills cover a wide range of areas, including Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, NCDs, water, hygiene, and sanitation, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

Gumi holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Dar es Salaam and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation at the Open University of Tanzania. He aspires to develop scientific proposals aiming to improve population health through implementation research. Gumi is affiliated with Health System Global and the Child Health Task Force.
