Lameck Bonaventure Luwanda is a Site Coordinator and Implementer for the DYNAMIC project at IHI. He holds an MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine from the University of Oxford. Throughout his career, Dr. Luwanda has been involved in the management and coordination of projects.

Dr. Luwanda, joined IHI in April 2014 after completing one year of familiarization of healthcare service delivery in Tanzania at the Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Manyara. Before that, he went to the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana, Cuba from 2006 to 2012 for a medicine degree.

At IHI, he haS worked as a clinician-researcher and project manager of the One-Stop Clinic of Ifakara before he joined the University of Oxford in the UK to improve his knowledge in the field of international health and tropical medicine in 2016. He has interests in health systems, health policies and infectious diseases in the developing countries.

Dr Luwanda is currently working as a clinician, researcher and implementer for the DYNAMIC project which aims to improve healthcare services in children up to 14 years of age with an introduction of an electronic point of care test in Morogoro and Mbeya regions.  He is coordinating all activities of the project for Ifakara Site.

Before joining the DYNAMIC project, he managed R4D Universal Health Coverage project within IHI. At the same time, he participated as a researcher in the Strengthening Health Systems for the Application of Policy to Enable Universal Test and Treat (SHAPE-UTT) project for almost two years.

While he was working as a clinician and project manager for One-Stop Clinic of Ifakara from 2014 to 2016, he was in the team that contributed to the reduction of HIV transmission from HIV-infected mothers to their newborns down to 2.2% at the Saint Francis Referral Hospital in Ifakara, Morogoro.

Dr. Luwanda has an aptitude for leadership and management, innovation, multilingual (Kiswahili, English, Spanish and French), and public speaking. He has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.

He has also been involved in projects affecting policies around HIV/AIDS. He is an avid innovator, and he is a Fellow of UNLEASH Innovation Lab and World Youth Forum.#
