Research scientists specializing in disease modeling

Andrea Martin Kipingu is a Research Scientist within the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences department at Ifakara Health Institute. He is currently serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the School of Biodiversity, One Health, and Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow, UK.

Kipingu's research interests center around disease modeling, particularly addressing public health challenges related to climate change, and has contributed significantly to Ifakara projects analyzing the impact of climate on malaria transmission. Currently, Kipingu is involved in research projects, focusing on modeling malaria vector populations to enhance vector control testing and implementation. He is also a key contributor to the Medical Research Council (MRC) project, assessing the impact of climate change on malaria transmission and optimizing vector control strategies. His work involves developing theoretical models and statistical power analysis frameworks, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of vector control.

Kipingu’s academic background is driven by his intellectual curiosity and passion for mathematics and its practical applications. He received a scholarship for the 13th Annual Summer Institute in Statistics and Modelling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID) at the University of Washington and a Ph.D. scholarship under the Lord Kelvin Adam Smith (LKAS) leadership grant at the University of Glasgow. He was recognized as the Best First Year Student in BSc. with Education (Informatics and Mathematics) at Sokoine University of Agriculture.
