Polius Gerazi Pinda serves as a Research Scientist with over six years of experience in public health, in the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences Department.

Trained as a biologist at the University of Dodoma (UDOM), he later earned a Master of Science in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, garnering the prestigious 2023 W Harding Le Riche gold Medal in Epidemiology. Presently, he is a Ph.D. student at Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

Pinda has explored mosquito ecology, tested and evaluated vector control products, and delved into malaria epidemiology and surveillance. His research spans over four journal articles on insecticide resistance monitoring in Tanzania.

Currently, he investigates the application of spatial repellents as complementary tools for vector control in rural communities and explores the interlink between climate variabilities and the risk of vector-borne diseases.

He actively contributes to the Witwatersrand University Research Institute for Malaria, South Africa, and is a member of Wageningen University and the Research Experimental Zoology chair group.
