Penina Mambo is a dedicated laboratory technician, licensed by the Health Laboratory Practitioner Council with Full registration. Since 2022, she has been a pivotal member of the Ifakara Health Institute's (IHI) Laboratory in Bagamoyo, specializing in hematology, biochemistry, and parasitology. Penina's expertise encompasses a range of procedures, including analyzer operations, malaria diagnosis, and bacterial isolation, coupled with her proficiency in performing quality controls and managing supplies according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ISO standards.
Penina's contributions to public health extend beyond the laboratory. Through her work, she discovered the prevalence of Plasmodium falciparum in Chalinze district, Pwani region, providing crucial data for targeted malaria interventions. Her milestone achievement serves as a cornerstone for decision-makers and policymakers, enabling informed decisions and the formulation of effective policies to combat malaria in Tanzania.
Penina's involvement in various projects reflects her commitment to advancing public health research. From a Phase III vaccine trial to assessing intervention impacts on low-density malaria infection, her role as a lab technician has been instrumental in supporting critical research endeavors aimed at improving health outcomes. Her dedication to meticulous sample processing, maintenance, and troubleshooting underscores her invaluable contribution to advancing laboratory science for the betterment of public health.
