Research Officer dedicated on bringing impactful contribution in public health

Fomen Mlalila is a dedicated researcher at the forefront of mosquito-related public health efforts. Since 2022, Fomen has served as a Research Officer at the Ifakara Health Institute, focusing on mosquito rearing and experimentation at the Insectary Laboratory in Bagamoyo. Prior to this role, Fomen gained valuable experience as a laboratory technician volunteer at the same facility, honing skills crucial for mosquito research.

His journey in public health began in 2020-2021 when he worked as a Field Interviewer and Data Collector for the Million Net Project in Kiwangwa, Bagamoyo. Fomen's commitment to education and community service is evident through his volunteer work as a teacher at Mwasama English Medium Primary School and Ibaba Secondary School, where he shared his knowledge and passion for learning.

Fomen's dedication to mosquito research is underscored by his milestone achievement in becoming an expert in mosquito rearing and dissection. His proficiency in these techniques has facilitated the production of adequate mosquitoes for experiments, particularly in the insecticide testing department.

Looking ahead, Fomen envisions a long-term commitment to mosquito research, aiming to continue rearing mosquitoes and contributing to high-quality data collection for various projects. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to professional growth highlight his aspiration to remain at the forefront of mosquito-related research, ensuring impactful contributions to public health initiatives.
