Nurse with background in HIV/Aids care and treatment

Ms. Ester Mrema is a licensed Nurse Midwife with 27-year experience in training on HIV/Aids care and treatment, midwife and nutrition for people living with HIV/Aids. Currently, she is attached to the Calcium Supplementation for Pregnant Women study which is being undertaken in Dar es Salaam. In 2012, Ms. Mrema received Appreciation Award for Enrollment staff from Ifakara Health Institute/Harvard School of Public Health.

 

Ms. Mrema joined IHI for the first time in April 2011 through the Neovita study as a Research Nurse/Supervisor which involved enrollment and follow up of participants.

Before that, between 2002 to 2011, she served as Research Assistant for the MUCHS/HARVAD Collaboration Research Project which was conducted at Muhimbili National Hospital and HPTN 024-labor Ward (2) child 1 study, and in the year 2018 she rejoined IHI as a Nurse in the Calcium study.

Ms. Mrema successfully attended the Certificate of Pre-Nursing study program at St. Francis Hospital (Ifakara, Morogoro) between 1986-87. Afterwards, from 1988-1992, she attended another program at Mvumi Hospital in Dodoma where she was trained and certified as Midwife Nurse.

Ms. Mrema has been providing midwife services in Tanzania for more than 20 years and also involved in several health projects in her carrier, especially on the Training on HIV/Aids Care and Treatment in Tanzania, midwife and nutrition with people living with HIV/Aids. She is also experienced in HIV/Aids counselling, very good in communication skills, documentation and customer care.
