Said is a Laboratory Scientist specializing in molecular and immunological diagnostics within the field of malaria research. Since July 2015, Said has been a key member of the research team at Ifakara Health Institute (IHI), stationed at the Ifakara branch laboratory. His role involves performing advanced diagnostic services for various projects with diverse objectives, particularly focusing on malaria vector research.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences, graduating with research experience from Sokoine University of Agriculture. His expertise inlude molecular detection of resistance genes in malaria vectors such as knockdown resistance gene (kdr east and west) and Ace-1 resistance gene, as well as molecular identification of primary and secondary malaria vectors. Said is adept at molecular detection of Plasmodium parasites in human blood and detecting Plasmodium sporozoites from malaria vectors using molecular and serological techniques. Additionally, he specializes in blood meal identification from malaria vectors using molecular and serological techniques.

As a core employee at IHI, Said is actively involved in multiple research projects focusing on malaria vector control. Notably, he has contributed his expertise to projects such as STAR HOME, Funestus-100, MARSH, and currently, he is a laboratory scientist on the DHIBITI MALARIA project. His role in the DHIBITI MALARIA project includes molecular detection of resistance genes in malaria vectors and species identification of primary and secondary malaria vectors.

Throughout his career, Said has actively participated and co-authored publications stemming from the projects he has been involved with. His contributions have significantly advanced the understanding and management of malaria vectors in research and public health initiatives.
