Lulu is a Statistician at the Ifakara Health Institute's Chronic Disease Clinic Ifakara and the Heart and Lung Disease Clinic. She holds a Master of Science in Statistics and Data Analytics from Lovely Professional University in India, which she completed in 2021 and later in 2022, she volunteered as a Data Manager at the Heart and Lung Disease Clinic.
Lulu has extensive expertise in using statistical software such as STATA, as well as data collection tools like Open Data Kit (ODK), REDCap, OpenMRS, and EpiData Manager. She is also is skilled in using visualization software like Tableau Desktop and Power BI.
As a statistician, Lulu is actively involved in several HIV and non-communicable disease projects. These include the use of a handheld ultrasonographic device to identify heart failure and pulmonary disease in rural Africa, the prospective assessment of viral rebound and associated risk factors in people living with HIV following viral suppression in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the effectiveness of isoniazid prophylactic therapy for the prevention of tuberculosis in HIV-infected adults. Additionally, she works on the diagnoses and outcomes of patients admitted to a high-dependency unit of a rural referral hospital in Tanzania.
Throughout her career, Lulu has achieved several milestones. She assists ongoing projects with data analysis, interpretation, and reporting, and participates in writing publications within Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO) and other collaborative projects. She helps plan, coordinate, and support research activities organized by the institute and other partners. Lulu also trains team members through presentations and individual consultations on statistical concepts, showcases research work at international and national conferences, and is dedicated to her personal and professional development.
Lulu aspires to participate in clinical trials and to further develop her career and research skills.
