Research scientist leading evidence-based health interventions and clinical research

Samuel Mutasingwa Salvatory is a Research Scientist in the Biomedical Research and Clinical Trials department at the Ifakara Health Institute. With over five years of experience as a clinician and more than three years as a public health specialist, Salvatory is interested in managing evidence-based health interventions and conducting implementation research. He also has skills in health-related data management and analysis.

Throughout his career, Salvatory has been successfully involved in various evidence-based interventions, including adolescent reproductive health programs, as a research consultant. Since joining Ifakara, he has served as the coordinator for the CARECHAIN-NCD project and the Heart and Lung Clinic at St. Francis Regional Referral Hospital. In these roles, he has made significant contributions, including the successful establishment of the Heart and Lung Clinic at St. Francis Regional Referral Hospital, coordinating the CARECHAIN-NCD project to improve non-communicable disease (NCD) service uptake and management in Kilombero Valley communities (ongoing for over a year), and facilitating the launch of the NCD clinic at Bagamoyo District Hospital, which now provides daily NCD care.

Salvatory holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and a postgraduate degree in Public Health from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), respectively. He is also a member of the Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT).

Salvatory aspires to contribute to public health advancement through evidence-based interventions, clinical research, interventional studies, and implementation research, enriching both scientific knowledge and policy.
