Faraji Abilahi is a dedicated professional with a rich background in Master's degree in Epidemiology and a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and Laboratory Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), coupled with extensive experience spanning over a decade, Faraji has established himself as a leader in his field. His expertise encompasses project management, laboratory operations, quality management systems, and research coordination.

Faraji Abilahi brings a wealth of experience to his roles at Ifakara Health Institute, where he has demonstrated strong leadership and managerial capabilities since January 2014. As the Head of IHI Laboratories, a position he has held since September 2017, Faraji oversees all laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and efficient workflow. Concurrently, in his capacity as Laboratory Manager, he has been instrumental in optimizing laboratory processes and enhancing the institute's diagnostic capabilities. Serving as the ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor since February 2018, Faraji ensures compliance with quality management systems, contributing to the institute's commitment to excellence. His involvement as a Member of the Ifakara Health Institute Tender Committee from January 2015 to June 2020 underscores his strategic procurement expertise and financial insight.

Additionally, as the Branch Signatory, online financial approval and control since January 2016, Faraji exercises fiscal responsibility and oversight. His multi-layered roles also include serving as the Research and Community Engagement Coordinator since September 2016, where he facilitates collaboration between the institute and local communities. Previously, as the Deputy Head of the Biomedical Thematic Group from February 2014 to September 2016, Faraji played a pivotal role in coordinating research activities within the group. Prior to his managerial roles, Faraji gained valuable field experience as a Project Laboratory Analyst for the Conditional Cash Transfer Project from November 2008 to November 2011 and as a Field Researcher for the Pit Latrine (Sanitation) Project from January 2014 to September 2011, further enriching his comprehensive skill set and understanding of public health initiatives.

Faraji Abilahi has achieved significant milestones throughout his career, including securing funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the pivotal "East-South Africa Anopheles funestus Consortium" project, aimed at combating malaria in the region. His instrumental role in the installation of state-of-the-art BD Bactec FX40, BD Phoenix M50, and Abbott m2000 machines in the Ifakara laboratory has greatly enhanced the institution's diagnostic capabilities. Additionally, Faraji's leadership and expertise were integral to Ifakara Laboratory's attainment of ISO 15189:2012 accreditation, reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and excellence. Moreover, his contributions were pivotal in facilitating Ifakara Health Institute's achievement of ISO 9001:2015 certification, underscoring his dedication to ensuring organizational efficiency and adherence to international standards.
