Transforming healthcare through data science expertise

Samwel Godfrey Lwambura is a dedicated statistician specializing in Health Systems, Impact Evaluation, and Policy at Ifakara Health Institute, based in Dar es Salaam. Armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Official Statistics from the Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC), Samwel possesses a wealth of knowledge in data management and statistical analysis, particularly in healthcare domains such as maternal and child health and malaria.

His expertise spans various programming languages including Python, Stata, R, and JavaScript, coupled with proficiency in database systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite. Samwel's adeptness with tools such as Git, VsCode, and project management platforms like GitHub and RStudio underscores his proficiency in handling complex datasets and software development.

With a keen eye for detail, Samwel ensures compliance with industry standards such as Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) and adeptly designs data management plans and validation procedures. He is well-versed in utilizing off-the-shelf data systems like RedCap for clinical trial data collection and management, along with survey tools like ODK Collect and Enketo.

Samwel actively engages in impactful projects such as HEEP funded by the government of korea through the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) as a co principal investigator.

His contributions extend to initiatives like the Service Availability and Readiness Assessment (SARA 2023) in Tanzania, where he spearheads the adaptation of data collection tools, supervises data collection across multiple regions, and leads analysis for technical reports. Similarly, in the Hybrid Type 2 Study of Next Generation Pulse Oximeters (HYBRID) and Tools for Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (TIMCI) study, Samwel demonstrates his proficiency in database development, data management, and analysis, showcasing his commitment to improving healthcare outcomes.
