Engineering healthcare transformation

Elizabeth Joseph Ngowi joined the Ifakara Health Institute in Dar es Salaam as a Biomedical Engineer for the NEST360 program. In this role, she coordinates technical trainings and maintenance for neonatal equipment in August 2021.

She embarked on her academic journey by graduating with an Ordinary Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering on January 28, 2018. She furthered her education at Arusha Technical College, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering on January 16, 2021.

Following her education, Elizabeth gained valuable experience as a volunteer Biomedical Engineer at KCMC Hospital and held a part-time position at Mawenzi RRH in Kilimanjaro. 

Elizabeth has enhanced her teaching skills by attending a Generic Instructor Course, becoming a full GIC instructor qualified to teach the course. She has also demonstrated proficiency in programming languages through projects such as the Bionic Arm project. Her expertise extends to medical equipment management.

Through the NEST360 project, Elizabeth has facilitated training sessions for biomedical engineers and technicians from various hospitals across Tanzania. She has also coordinated the installation of neonatal equipment and provided neo-technology trainings focusing on clinical and technical skills labs.

Elizabeth is a member of the Association of Medical Engineers and Technicians in Tanzania (AMETT).
