Jacqualine Mgaya is a Research Scientist in the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences Department at Ifakara Health Institute, with diverse experience in various public health spheres, including HIV, TB, PPFP, and nutrition. Currently, she focuses on malaria vector surveillance, leveraging infrared technology and machine learning to advance research.
Jacqualine holds a master's in Public Health Research, with a focus on the Determinants of Health and Diseases, from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Tanzania.
Her research contributions include working in the Deep Surveillance Project, where she focuses on mosquito age prediction, species identification, and blood meal analysis. Jacqualine's efforts have yielded valuable insights into preservation methods and storage durations of mosquito samples, which are crucial for developing effective malaria control strategies. Additionally, she has played a vital role in collaborative projects aimed at improving malaria vector surveillance.
Dedicated to integrating innovative technologies into disease surveillance, Jacqualine actively contributes to global efforts to improve public health outcomes. Outside of her professional commitments, she finds balance, fulfillment and inspiration through hiking, reading, and community volunteering.
