Why HIV positive persons under ARV do not transmit the virus
People living with HIV do not have to transmit the virus as long as they adhere to medication as prescribed by their respective doctors. They can maintain a normal sex life without fear of transmission and above all, they have HIV-free children.
Dr. Robert Ndege, a researcher at our Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara, explains why those living with the virus but adhering to medication as prescribed by their doctors cannot transmit it.
